Tailgate Generator Ideas
Tailgate parties are really just urban camping and cookouts when you really think about it. Sure you can always lug huge batteries out there to the parking lot.
Here are some real nifty ideas to take a long if you’re one of those big game fanatics that enjoy the party more than even the game itself.
Of course we’ve hinted at one of our favorite products(Yeti solar powered generator) on SolarFeature.com in another piece, but it goes without saying portable solar generators are just as much of a fit for tailgating festivities as they would be at that remote campground in the wilderness. The article piece references some very handy gadgets .
Now will your truck/van or car look like a solar mobile when it’s loaded with all this gear? Probably, but that wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Anyways, not everything of course has to be solar powered, it’s just that it’s much cooler when it is, not to mention more quiet and pleasant to be around without all the noise and fumes.
I’ve never thought money goes to waste if whatever you bought with it was used. Even better if you enjoyed it with family and friends and all that stress from the work week just melts with the cheese you put on that hamburger 🙂
If you’re going to party before the game and you’re going to do it seriously for your next tailgate gather, then pack up a few of the essentials. It’s a camping, so preparation and comfort is paramount.
- Satellite Radios
- Solar Outdoor Lights
- Solar Ovens

Today, you don’t have to be a football fan—or even wait for football season—to tailgate. Whether you choose to pre-game at your non-football sport of choice, or just get together with your friends at a park, beach, or anywhere else, tailgating is the perfect excuse to get outside, grill up some great food, maybe have a drink or two, and enjoy yourself.
If you aren’t familiar with how power inverters work, or how your vehicle’s electrical system works, then suffice it to say that a long day of tailgating is basically a recipe for a dead battery.
You can help mitigate that by starting and running your engine, which will help keep the battery charged, but who wants to sit around in a cloud of exhaust?
If you get an extra deep cycle battery to run all of your electronics, then you’ll never have to deal with the dreaded dead-battery-click when it’s time to head home.
So long as your battery and inverter can handle it, there are a ton of great tailgating entertainment options available. Even if you narrow the focus down to just mobile video, you can bring along a portable 12 volt television that will run straight off your battery, pack a regular tv and plug it into your inverter, or even go whole hog with a built-in mobile video system (we’re talking multiple video monitors, multiple video sources, maybe even a projector if you’re feeling adventurous.)
